ArmArmando Saldarini was born in Como in 1966.
He started his musical training with Prof. Giancarlo Sacchi at the Music High School of Como. In 1990 he graduated in trumpet from the Conservatory “G. Verdi” of Como, with Prof. Pierluigi Salvi and in 1994 he graduated in Music Teaching Method from the same Conservatory. During those years he attended the course of Experimental Composition with Prof. Luca Francesconi.
In 1997 he graduated in Wind Band and Fanfare Conducting from the Conservatory of Rotterdam (Holland) with Masters Jaap Koops and Jos Van der Sijde.
As instrumentalist he co-operated with several and different instrumental ensembles such as chamber music groups and orchestras, wind band orchestras and big bands; with these ensembles he took part in national and international contests and made some recordings.
Since 1989 he has been taking part in several courses, lectures and workshops on string-orchestras and wind band Conducting, which took place in Italy and abroad (Holland, France, Switzerland, Hungary, U.S.A. and Canada) and were held by some world-famous Masters such as Franco Cesarini, Frederick Fennell, Hardy Mertens, Jan Cober, Jo Conjaerts, Johan de Meij, Làszlò Marosi, Luis Solomon, Michael Dittrich, Thomas Fraschillo.
In 1977 he was awarded the prize “Bacchetta d’Oro” as best Conductor at the National Contest “Bacchetta d’Oro – Città di Frosinone” and in the same year he was one of the 24 selected Conductors at the WMC of Kerkrade (selective entry World Music Competition). In 2006 Armando Saldarini won the First Prize at the “WINDMAKER 2006” International Competition for Wind Band Conductors, in Vienna.
At present, besides the intensive activity as teacher in primary and secondary schools, he is Conductor of five wind bands (Concert and Youth Bands of Besana Brianza, Grandate, Triuggio, Moltrasio bands) with which he got awards in national and international contests (Frosinone, Riva del Garda, Costa Volpino, Strasbourg, Prague).
As guest conductor he conducted concerts in Italy, Holland, Greece, France, Austria, Spain and Hungary.
He teaches Theory-Solfeggio, Trumpet and Ensemble Music in the school “P. Riva” of Besana and he is a member of the technical committee of FE.BA.CO. (Bands Federation in Como). As Conductor of stage orchestras he also collaborates with the “Teatro Sociale” in Como and since 2003 he is Artistic Director of the International Band Festival Besana Brianza.
